Breaking Bad, elegida la mejor serie dramática por segundo año consecutivo (cinco estatuillas en total en una misma noche), y Modern Family, triunfadora en comedia, un rubro que ya parece ser de su propiedad (cinco preciados Emmy acumulados), fueron las grandes estrellas de la gala número 66 de los Premios de la Academia de Televisión de EEUU, los  Emmy, celebrada en Los Ángeles.

Para el mejor drama, contribuyeron con sus respectivas estatuillas la triada de intérpretes principales, Bryan Cranston, elegido mejor actor; y Aaron Paul y Anna Gunn, ganadores en actor y actriz de reparto. El gran logro de Breaking Bad fue derrotar a seriados de éxito mayúsculo como Downton Abbey, Games of Thrones, House of Cards, Mad Men y True Detective. 

Julianna Margulies se quedó con el reconocimiento a la mejor actriz por su interpretación en The Good Wife. Billy Crystal fue el protagonista del más sentido de los homenajes de la noche, en honor a Robin Williams. La serie Sherlock consiguió tres galardones. Fargo, en tanto, fue distinguida como la mejor miniserie.

Las grandes perdedoras de la noche, para la crítica, fueron True Detective y Orange is the New Black, sin premios en las principales categorías.
